Pastor Brian Kom

Pastor Brian Kom was born in 1967 in Toledo, Ohio. Three years later his family moved to Grant Park, Illinois. Four years later his family moved to Big Bend, Wisconsin, near Milwaukee, where they have lived ever since. Pastor Kom's father is the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church there. Pastor Kom has two brothers and four sisters.

Pastor Kom attended the Lutheran Elementary school in Big Bend before going to Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. To begin preparing for the ministry he attended Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, graduating in 1989. He then attended Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, graduating in 1993. After graduating from the seminary Pastor Kom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He had successful surgery to remove the cancer and has been cancer free since. Upon graduation Pastor Kom was assigned to serve St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. In July of 1997 Pastor Kom accepted the call to serve Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Pastor Kom married Angela Joy Hansen on June 12, 1994. Angela grew up in the Winona and Lewiston areas. She attended Rochester Community College and then Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee.

The Lord has blessed Pastor and Angela with four children: Micah Lynn (13 years old), Paul (12 years old), Chloe (8 years old), and Lilly (1 years old).

Pastor Kom absolutely loves being a pastor at Ascension; there is nowhere else he'd want to be.
